Swim Angelfish is a type of swimming pool exercises. The mission of Swim Angelfish is to provide children of all abilities and special needs the lifelong skill of being comfortable and safe in the water, as well as confident and independent in recreational activities.
The founders of Swim Angelfish, Ailene Tisser, MA PT and Cindy Freedman, MOTR, CTRS each have over 20 years of experience in treating a variety of diagnoses, both in and out of the water. Ailene and Cindy began working in Aquatic Therapy, which grew out of their therapy businesses. They met, connected, and launched the company Angelfish Therapy.
Swim Angelfish is devoted to helping children of all abilities to learn how to swim. The company, originally founded as an Aquatic Therapy service, has grown to include Swim Lessons, Camps, and Training as a direct result of the need to help all children become confident and safe in the water.
Ailene and Cindy developed a swim curriculum for all aquatic professionals. . Striving to educate parents, caregivers, swim instructors, aquatic directors, swim school owners, on how to better work with children who have Autism, PDD-NOS and sensory processing issues. Swim Whisperers® was designed to meet the needs of a growing population with these issues. According to a 2004 study, at least 1 in 20 children’s daily lives are affected by a Sensory Processing Disorder. The CDC released findings that raised estimates about the number of children in the U.S. with an Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis to 1 in 65.
Swim Angelfish helps children with a variety of special needs reach their full potential through fun and challenging aquatic therapy sessions, and swim lessons. Swim Angelfish offers training options for therapists, swim professionals, and even parents who want to learn more about how to work with children with a broad range of special needs.
