NDPA EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE

The National Drowning Prevention Alliance works hard all year round to provide people and communities with the right knowledge and tools to prevent drowning. Once a year, they go even further to present the opportunity for those interested in water safety to grow personally and professionally, and to develop life-long relationships and contacts in their quest toward safer water. The NDPA’s annual conference is a wonderful opportunity to connect with many members of the aquatic community and gain more knowledge to help our own communities prevent drowning.

March 11 through the 13, the NDPA will host their 14th annual educational conference in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. This is the leading national conference devoted to drowning prevention. The conference offers the best in research, products, educational programming, outreach strategies, policy codes, and many other resources related to drowning prevention. Sessions throughout the conference include key note speakers from University of Texas, Centers for Disease Control, Starfish Aquatic Institute and many other professionals with knowledge to provide insight on water safety. The conference will cover drowning prevention for kids, adults and different ethnic backgrounds, as well as habits and tools for the prevention of drowning.

Along with all the educational information offered at the conference, the NDPA also offers an optional registration to be a part of their swim-a-thon. The swim-a-thon allows conference participants to register to swim lengths of the pool up to 200 lengths and raise money for the NDPA as well as the local Dallas community’s drowning prevention task force. This is a great way to get a nice work out and raise money for a worthy cause. Conference participants can also hang around one more day after the conference and get their CPO (Certified Pool/Spa Operator®) certification.CPO certification provides you with basic knowledge, techniques, and skills of pool and spa operations. The NSPF (National Swimming Pool Foundation) Fusion course will also be offered in conjunction with the NDPA conference. The class will be on Saturday March fourteenth the day after the conference.
